Warm top of foot

Question
I keep getting this warm sensation on the top of my foot.  Its not burning just warm.  It does not hurt.

I went to a DPM last year because my feet hurt.  He said my calves are tight and I am overweight.

I notice I carry alot of weight on my left foot.  I work on a computer all day and I notice I sit with my left heel up and my foot bent at the toes with a lot of pressure pushing down to the ground. I also sit with my right heel resting on the top of my left foot.  I take my shoes of half the time when I am at my computer.

This became worse when I went to a funeral in the rain and I think my shoes got tight.  The heels were worn out on the outside.  I threw them out and did not have a problem with this sensation for a few days till today.  I noticed it when I was driving.  My left foot was stretched out in front pressing up against the front of the car.

I have started new stretches.  One is a heel droop where I put have the foot off the step of the stairs and let them drop.  My calves hurt when I do this, they are very tight.  I also went to a chiropractor and he said my left leg can be elevated to a 70 degree postion and right leg to a 45 degree postion when lying down.  He says my hams are very tight.

I am sorry to sound long-winded.  I went through a bout of anxiety last year were I felt that every body sensation was a disease.  When I first felt this I got scared thinking of MS or a million other diseases.  I am scared.  I don't want to be  a wreck like last year.  I want to know if I am doing the right thing by trying to stretch and exercise to fix this problem.  I am following a program called the Egsocue Method.

Thank You

Answer
Hi Lou,

I feel pretty confident that you are just fine.  I read your posts out of order.  So here is some more advise.

You may want to consider custom foot orthoses(aka-orthotics or arch supports).  You may have some unusual stress or inbalance in your foot which may cause this sensation.

Hang in there and keep me posted.  Weight loss is always a good idea and can help with many problems including anxiety and stress.  And certainly can help with foot and ankle problems.

Try to set some goals for yourself and see if you can get into an excercise routine and eat healthier.  The stretches are good.

Just keep a positive attitude and hang in there.
