Hole under big toe

Question
Hi,

I've had a cut on the bottom of my big toe that has yet to heal (I forgot how I got it).  I've had this cut for about 2 years.  It doesn't show any signs of infection and is clearly not an open wound, but is more of a hole.

I noticed if I close my eyes and lightly touch the bottom of my toe with something I can't feel the sensation in some places.  I thought this was possibly because it's callused over.  Could it be that the hole is in a callus and that's why it's not healing?  I recently started using a pumas stone to see if that helps.

Thanks.

Answer
Dan,

It sounds like you developed a callous under the toe.  Another possibility is a plugged sweat gland known as a Porokeratosis.

You likely cut the area and had some superficial nerve damage.

If the area bothers you I would have a Podiatrist take a look at it.
