Question
Good Afternoon,
I run a caring community service not for profit organisation and have many elderly people who have very cold feet and complain about it the pain of the cold. What can you recommend to assist these people. Blessings Lorna Magen Founding Director

Answer
Hi Lorna,

This is a common problem.  Often the circulation of the feet and toes decreases as we age.  There are several solutions.  There are thermal socks on the market which are fairly expensive.  The best solution I have found is wearing a pair of wool socks and then placing a plush closed high top slipper on the foot.  This layering holds the heat well.

In some cases if there is poor circulation, a visit to a physican may be warranted.  You may want to see if there is a Podiatrist in the community that may have interest in doing a foot screening.

Good Luck

Sincerely,
