Question
I have extreme pain on the bottom of my foot, the area where the toes meet the foot.  There is considerable swelling and painful when I walk

Answer
Dave,
It is crucial that you visit with a podiatrist for an x-ray to ensure that there is no stress fracture.  That is a prime location for one and is impossible to know without one.  In the meantime, you can manage the pain/swelling with ice and an OTC anti-inflammatory.
All the best,
Andrew Schneider, DPM
