Question
QUESTION: Hello Dr, I'm a 40 yr old 5'11" 240 lb guy. Yesterday I kicked moderately and my bare foot felt like the toes and front portion of the foot bent back slightly. It was a little sore at first. Then after laying down on the coach, my foot felt like it was swelled up alot and I could barely walk. It feels sore in the middle inside of the foot, halfway between the ankle and the toes. It was throbbing pain and I seriously considered going to the Dr today for an Xray. It kept me up half the night because I couldn't get comfortable. Finally I got a few hours sleep and this morning, it is somewhat sore, but nothing like last night. I can walk with a slight limp, but not incapacitated like yesterday. I feel that once I lay down again tonight, it might do the same. Is it because of elevating the foot that it get's more sore? I don't think I broke anything, but I would know if I did right? No numbness, just a bit sore and limping. Thanks for your input Dr.

ANSWER: Hi Mike,

I would assume by now that your foot is feeling better.  With an injury like yours, I would see a podiatrist for an xray or possibly an MRI. There could be a foot fracture but even a soft tissue injury can be severe enough to warrant treatment.  So if you still have a problem please seek care.

QUESTION: Thanks Doc. Foot is 100% better now. Just that 1st night was very convincing that I did something to the foot. The next day it was almost all better and didn't swell again at night. Appreciate the response.

Answer
Glad to hear that all is well.
