Second Toe Curving

Question
Hi Dr. Tsatsos,

Please may I have a moment of your time.  My index toe is not straight.  The distal bone rather than going straight is wrapping to the lateral side or curving out. I'm not sure if I'm in the beginning stages of claw toes.

Please are there any products that I could use that could help straighten my toes, especially the distal part, back to the center line?

Please see an example below of pictures to illustrate:

Thanks for your time

Answer
Dear Jon,

This Orthopedic Chicago Podiatrist located in West Loop 60661, Roscoe Village 60618, Ukrainian Village 60622, Elmhurst 60126 & Bartlett 60103 says,

There are no splints that will straighten out the toe. The toe may or may not drift, depending on the structure of the toe. The tendons that pull & move those toes will be more powerful than any splint.
Go see a good podiatrist & have them take an x-ray. That should give you a good idea of future possible drift. It doesn't look bad enough to treat & since surgery to realign the toe may be your only choice right now-I would wait for pain or noticeable drift. It may stay the same for many, many years. Always weigh the pros & cons of any suggested treatment.
Hope this helps &
Good Luck!
