Improper healing of toe

Question
Hello, I stubbed my pinky toe very hard last August. It turned black and blue, swelled, and pained for weeks. I didn't seek medical attention as I was told that a Dr. probably couldn't do anything for a toe. So I wasn't diagnosed with a break/fracture/sprain. Now months later, the pain has gone and the toe is healed, but it is deformed. It is twisted so that my nail is more towards the side of my toe, my toe is "fatter" and the "knuckle" seems to be bigger. It doesn't hurt but sometimes when I am walking bare-footed it feels uncomfortable as it doesn't lay on the floor correctly and when I stand you can clearly see that it has not gone back properly. Although it's months later, should I see a Dr. about this? I'm wondering if this can lead to complications in the future without getting fixed. Thanks!

Answer
Dear Melody,

This Orthopedic Chicago Podiatrist located in West Loop 60661,Roscoe Village 60618, Elmhurst 60126 & Bartlett 60103 says...
The toe fracture has probably healed in less desirable position. These fractures are called bedpost fractures. If it bothers you-then you should have it fixed. The rotated toe may  lead to complications if it bothers you at work & play. The "fatness" may or may not decrease-If it is toe swelling-it should decrease. If the toe doesn't bother you-then avoid the risk of a surgery-as minimal as it would be.

Hope this helps.
Good Luck!
