Myelofibrosis and back & neck pain.

Question
My current doctor (who is vague with me) said I have myelofibrosis on top of my herniated disc, dengerative disc in my upper back and a "protrusion" in my neck. I looked up info on the Myelofibrosis and the symptoms dont match and there isnt much out there on it, except it refers me to the cancer institute because unmonitored it can turn into lukemia. I'm 32, I've had gall bladder surgery and am suffereing from Post Cholecstemy Syndrome, I also have developed the more than occasional, hands turning purple for a few minutes and going cold. I have numbness in my arms and legs that wake me up from a deep sleep. And now I have shooting pains, as if someone was taking a knife and just slicing down inside my arms and legs. I plan on moving here at the beginning of next year, and want to get another opinion from another doctor, because all my current doctor did was tell me to not do any heavy lifting, or repetative actions and put me on hydrocodone 5/500 4x day, which I found out that long term use will destroy my liver too. What do I do?

Answer
Mayra,

Disc problems usually result from muscular contractions of the spinal musculature.  Nerve entrapment is common and would account for your circulatory disturbances and pain.

The article on whiplash injuries at www.somatics.com/page4.htm contains information that is pertinent to your condition.

I recommend you have an evaluation with a practitioner of clinical somatic education. If the evaluation indicates you are a good candidate, a few sessions will alleviate the muscular problems and their effects.  A link to practitioners exists on the page with the articles.
