Question
I am 16 and I've been experiencing extreme migraines every day for about a month. I drink tons of water, thinking that the pain is caused by dehydration but it either doesn't help or the pain becomes more extreme. These migraines occur when I put any sort of pressure on the back of my head. For example, I feel fine until I lay down or lean back, then the pressure from the pillow causes a migrane within about two minutes and I become extremely dizzy. I would not be worried except for the fact that they occur when slight pressure-even when applied from an object as soft as a pillow-is applied to the back of my head (the migraines do not occur when I apply pressure to the sides of my head). Also since the migraines began I've experienced mood changes such as getting extremely angry and sad-to the point of uncontrolable crying- when it's unnecessary or when there's no reason to be sad. It's almost like constant PMS except worse. Also, I've never expierienced any serious head trauma that could have triggered the migraines. Could the moodswings be related to the migraines even though the mood changes don't always occur when the migraine is present and do you recommend a cat scan??

Answer
Hi Rain and thanks for writing,

I have never heard of Migraines acting like the symptoms you describe.

I strongly advise you to go discuss your headaches with your family doctor and if he can抰 solve them then request a referral to a Neurologist.

You know your own body and keep bugging them for help until you find relief.

Wishing you all the best,

Margot
