Question
I have been taking 200MG tablets of Ibuprofin in the amount of 30 to 50 pills a day for dental pain, its the only thing that has kept the pain at bay. My doctors have all told me I need to cut this out but they offer no other forms of treatment for the pain. I have been diagnosed with Gastritous, and severe Stomach Ulcers. Currently I am having a sever pain on my right side about an inch and a half under the ribcage, more to the front then the back. I have Overdosed on asprin in the past. My doctors have told me Ibuprofin is safer because of possible damage to my Liver. I should also mention this pain throbs and hurts more when I breath out, and when I stand or lie down. I have also had a minor amount of blood in the stool, and I have lost my lunch. I am worried about possible consequences of having taken so much Ibuprofin for such a long time. I do plan on getting those teeth pulled as soon as I can but it may still be another month or so. Thank you so much for your time.

Answer
Hi Rita and thanks fo writing,

You must stop taking so much Ibuprofin before you do permanent damage to yourself, and it sounds like you're already in danger with your GI symptoms.

There are so many analgesics available that there's no reason to be in pain. If I was you, I would march into your doctors office and say "I am in real pain and need soemthing NOW that is safe and will relieve my pain; I can not keep damaging my insides taking all this Ibuprofin".

I hope this helped, wishing you good health,

Margot
