Question
Hi
I work in a office so i'm sitting all day at my desk. I notice that every couple of days my legs start to hurt. my fiance bought me a treadmill and running on it everyday and it seems to make the pain disapear. Its not a sharp painful pain, almost feels like growing pains people get when there younger. I was wondering why does my legs hurt when i sit for so long?

Answer
Hi Stacey and thanks for writing,

It sounds like you could be experiencing circulatory issues where the blood is settling when you are sedentary.  This can be a serious problem ?you抳e probably heard that everyone should get up and walk around on flights over 4-5 hours to avoid blood clots or thrombi in the legs.

My advice I to go see your GP and discuss the issue and even ask if you need to be seen by a specialist.

In the mean time keep exercising and at least et up and walk around every hour when you抮e sedentary ?walking up/down a flight or two of stairs would be a good, brief work-out.

All my best,
Margot
