Question
During the night I have been waking up to my right arm hurting and my hand numb.  It usually happens  a coupe of times at night and it takes about 15 - 20 minutes to go away w/ me sitting on the side of the bed or getting up.  It's very painful and has been going on for a couple of monthsI have not had any recent injuries, but have put on about 35 lbs in the last six months.  Could there be something pinching a nerve w/ all the weight gain.

Hello, Monica.

Pinched nerve, probably (could also be circulatory).

If a pinched nerve, it's almost certainly in your neck, where the nerve roots to the arm exit the spinal column.

A recent injury wouldn't be necessary; muscular tensions tend to accumulate and that's what leads to trapped nerves.

May I direct you to my write up on neck injuries, which also indicate what to do.

If circulatory, it would probably be that you're lying on your arm.

If you want a recommendation, you may write again.
