Question
I have started DRX 9000 treatments for my 4 &5 disc problem in my lower back. I had and MRI that showed severe degeneration of the discs and that I also have spinal fluid leaking down my spinal column along with 4 & 5 being out of place - the lower one is too far back 1/2" or so and the other is forward too far. I was told this is also creating a "guillotine" effect and that without treatment within 3 years I could be paralyzed. Have you heard of the DRX machine helping with this sort of problem or should I quit treatments and seek the advice of a surgeon? please advise asap as my next treatment (which cause more pain each time) is tomorrow. thank you so much. by the way I am only 45 and the chiropractor told me I have the back of a 70 year old construction worker. thanks!

Answer
Since the technology is so new, I have not heard of DRX machines adding to or relieving such a problem.  However, I would be concerned about spinal cord fluid leaking.

Surgery may be the best option but I always recommend trying less invasive therapies first.  These therapies include exercise, stretching, and possible traction like you're doing.

Having said that, I would seek a second opinion if I were you.  Your local doctors will be the best judge of a proper treatment plan since he/she has all the films and medical history.  The internet will never replace 'hands-on" medical treatment.

Thank you for your question, Patti.  I hope that my answer was helpful.
