Question
My wife has severe pain from Ankylosing Spondilitis and wanted to try glocosomine but found the tablets too large to swallow. Is there any problem in crushing the tablets and ingesting them in a powdered form?
Thanks for your help.

Answer
I don't know of any information on using glucosamine for ankylosing spondylitis.  It's an inflammatory type of arthritis as opposed to osteoarthritis, a degenerative disease.  Of course, osteoarthritis could be occuring along with the AS.  Please check with her rheumatologist about any new medication, even an over-the-counter drug.  If s/he approves of trying the glucosamine, s/he can answer about crushing it.  And there are liquid forms, too.
