Question
please could you tell me how to put on my tights as am not sure if i am allowed to bend from my waist ever again will i ever be normal again i am 7 weeks post op

Answer
There are several ways you can put on tights.  First of all, there is something called a "hip kit" which you can get through your physical therapist.  That kit has a device that you put your tights over and then you put it on your legs.  It's hard to explain but if you get the kit, you'll be able to work with it.

At seven weeks post op, you probably should be wearing socks rather than tights.  I was taught to lie my knee on the bed and then put my socks on that way.  It's difficult to explain the process but if you have a physical therapist, they can walk you through the process.

You should not bend at the waist over 90 degrees.  If you do bend over a 90 degree angle you are risking dislocation.

As far as being normal, I know how frustrated you can get, but healing from hip surgery takes time.  There will be things you can never do again, but there will be other activities that you will be able to resume.  Give it time, you'll be fine!
