Question
I'm an 82 year old woman and had a total hip replacement 3 years ago. A few montha ago I've started getting pain in the ankle of the same leg with the hip replacement. The pain is mostly felt in the heel part of my ankle, and the pain comes and goes. What do you think is causing this pain?

Answer
Dear Joy,
This Chicago Podiatrist located in West Loop 60661,Roscoe Village 60618,Elmhurst 60126 & Bartlett 60103 says...
For your heel pain-Sometimes after hip surgery the side that had the surgery becomes a little shorter. That would cause stretching of the arch when walking. This could also cause pain in the ankle. Go see a good board certified podiatrist who may be able to help you with orthotics & a heel lift. If this is not the case-they would be able to give you an accurate diagnosis.
Hope This Helps!
and
Good Luck!
