Question
My husband has had repeated hip surgeries on the same hip since he was 13 yrs old...he is 47 now. His dr is trying to tell him that he needs ANOTHER operation...he has had TWO this yr already...the reason given was that his muscle tissue is turning into bone. I never have heard of this and I feel he is having too many repeated operations to the point I am wondering if this dr is just looking to make more money out of my husband's case. Have you ever heard of this?
Sincerely, Marylee T.

Answer
Dear Marylee

I really am not familiar with any disease of the muscles turning into bone.  There is a disease called Schleraderma where sking cells harden, but I don't know if that is the same thing your husband has.  I am not a doctor, so I really don't have the expertise that your husband requires.  Why don't you seek a second opinion?
