Question
i had been in an accident & my doctor told me I have to do a total hip replacement surgery. I an 26 & would like a have a baby some time would there be any difficulty in this? Also my doctor advise that I tie my tubes since he would be using a total metal joint would this affect the baby if I don't tie my tubes?

Answer
Dear Ahalia

I had two healthy children with hip replacements and I have never heard of the metal affecting your unborn child.  You may have to have a C-section due to decreased muscle tone, but having your tubes tied is not something I'd recommend.

Go see your OB/GYN, then ask to be referred to a high risk OB/GYN due to your replacement. I don't think you will ever be advised to tie your tubes and not have children. That just sounds wrong to me.
