Total Hip replacement right side

Question
I am 62 years old and had a THR and it's now 2 3/4 month. My walk is without crutches and walk like a duck. My muscles hurt all the time and at night it burns in my upper thigh. I feel like my progress is so slow and I would like to get back to work ( requirement 100pd lifting)soon(work on the Ambulance). My doctor says maybe in total 6 month is this expectation reasonable. I am in very good health and physical fit otherwise. Am I expecting too much I have nothing to guide my progress with.

My gut reaction is, yes, you are expecting too much.  You have had major surgery, and the recuperation time is at least 6 months to one year to get back to where you are living comfortably.  Even though you may feel fine, you need to give your muscles time to heal.

When the replacement goes in, large muscle groups are cut and they need time to heal.  Listen to your doctor and just ask him if he will check you on a regular basis to see if your recovery time can be lessened, but please, don't rush things.
