Question
I had posted to you earlier. I had the pinning  on Aug 2 and pin removal on Oct 2 in relation to the S&L joint in my left wrist.I have been going to therapy since they removed the stiches on Oct 15.I still have range of motion issues and pain at the base of my thumb.I also still have pain when I try to lift more than a couple of pounds. I am to return to my Dr on the 19th.My question  About how long should it take for everything to be completely healed. What questions should I ask my Dr. are there other things I can do to help. Do you take referals?

Answer
Hi Deborah,

These things take several months to heal and as stated earlier, rarely return to pain free normal range of motion. The best thing to do now is take 3 grams/day of glucosamine sulfate to minimize osteoarthritis. These injuries can be very persistent, taking the OTC soon after surgery will prove extremely beneficial in 12 months.

We take referrals on a case by case basis, so it would depend on what it is.

Good Luck!
