Question
QUESTION: Hi again Im experiencing some muscle tightnes and soreness on one side right , Im walking a half mile a day in additon to activites of a daily nature. Please let me know if thisis normal esp mid thigh pain, have u ever had this yourself, should I just skip the walking for now..

ANSWER: Hi Susan

You sound better than the last time you wrote and I am so glad to see that.  Have you had your gait tested?  It may be that your gait is off a bit and that's causing the pain.

Is the ground uneven?  That also may be causing problems if you not used to walking on uneven trails or pavement.  You may be over compensating.

Did you ever get your legs measured?

QUESTION: they did measure them and they are okay but Ive been walking on uneven ground...have you heard of this stiffness and have you ever experienced it.

ANSWER: Yes, I've had the stiffness before on and off.  It normally comes when I am over compensating, meaning that I am being extra careful on uneven ground.  Because I am being so overcareful, my gait is not correct and i am putting emphasis on one leg or the other, which causes pain and muscle stiffness.

It goes away when I stop walking on uneven pavement.

Susan

The way I look at it is this way.

Is it possible that some of the pain we have is just due to aging?  Yes, some of it is absolutely due the replacements.  But I have many friends who just have started to feel aches and pains that are completely normal and due to aging.

It may be that some of your pain is just due to aging.  Trust me, I didn't want to hear that, but there might just be a grain of truth to that.

Best of luck!!!!

Sharon
