Hip Rplmnt from Necrosis

Question
Richard,

(41, female) I have been on prednisone for sarcoidosis treatment.  I have developed increasing right hip pain. Docs are concerned about 2 possibilities: 1-sarcoid is now affecting hip bone (as I already have it in ulnar bone) OR 2-I may have developed necrosis to hip socket due to prednisone impeding arterial flow.  I am in process of scans to determine what is happening in hip.

Main question:  Have you dealt w/people who had hip replcd due to necrosis (vs. arthritis).  If so, how did they fare?  Thanks for your time & interest.

Answer
Jayne,

I have treated many patients that have had their hip replaced due to necrosis.
They all fare very well. No difference in how the rehabilitation goes. The only differences will depend on the patient themselves.

That is how strong the patient is , their level of determination to get better etc...

So it all works out the same. No difference.

Sincerely
