Question
I rolled my ankle 3 months back. My mri report said:
Mild joint effusion is noted. Effusion is also noted in between the tarsal bones. Bone bruise is noted at the attachment of the tibialis posterior tendon on navicular and cuboid bone, however no avulsion fracture is noted. Tendon is showing normal MR signals. Altered signals are noted at the anterior and lateral fibers of the talo-tibial ligament (deltoid) suggesting partial thickness tear with bone edema/bruise at talar attachment. Anterior and the posterior talo-fibular ligaments are unremarkable.
I had been wearing an Aircast stirrup for 2 months but it didn't show much improvement so the doctor has given me an air cast boot. What do you think I should do because when I turn my foot towards the side I rolled it, it feels like there is pressure inside my foot.

Dear Azad,

For your rolled ankle..
You didn't mention the calcaneofibular ligament-which may be sprained. I would be doing aggressive physical therapy & strengthening exercises of the ankle. I would also be using an ankle brace with reinforcement straps or strips on the outside. This prevents rolling the ankle again. If there is no indication of injury-then 2 months of rest should be adequate.Try to avoid the boot & wear a good ankle brace,do gentle range of motion & strengthening exercises-if no improvement in another month seek a second opinion.
Good Luck!
