Question
I can't thank you enough for your good advice:(Buised foot question on 07/02/08). I went to a Podiatrist instead of waiting to see if it would get better. After Xrays and MRI's I was diagnosed with Intersesamoidal Ligament Rupture.  My foot surgeon said this is very rare and has only seen this once before in 24 years of practice. He said surgery is the only option for this condition. I had the surgery on 07/23/08 the tendon between the sesamoids was grafted back together. Have you ever come across this condition before. If so what was the outcome and recovery time. I cannot find anything about this condition and don't know what to expect for my future.

Answer
Hi Kimberely,

Glad you had that looked at by a dr.  This is a very rare occurrence.  In most cases ligament ruptures cab be treated with casting if necessary, however, surgery is certainly an option.  You are likely looking at a 4-6 week healing period.  I would discuss physical therapy with your doc so that you will heal quicker and get back to normal activity. It would be rare to find many drs that do this procedure.  I'm sure you will do well in time.  Good Luck.  Also, ask your surgeon about the recovery time.

Sincerely,
