Question
I supinate badly and also have a leg length discrepancy, and as a result (1) have difficulty finding comfortable footwear, and (2) develop lots of leg pain (it moves around) whenever I sustain a serious walking program.  My feet are very high arched, and rigid.  I read different things about whether orthotics can help.  Based on the above, do you have any thoughts as to whether they might, or if there is some better approach?   PS I am 52.

Answer
Hi Peter,

I would recommend orthotic devices for the high arch and supportive shoes.  Also, I would see a podiatrist for evaluation of the limb length difference.  In some cases a lift may be put in the shoe or shoes can be modified to help with leg difference.  These would be your best approaches.
