Question
i hurt my sesamoid bone in a car accident when the other car crashed with the force of his car impact to my foot when i was stepping on the brake really hard, first the hospital told me i dislocated my big toe, then they find out that i have a torn tendon and sesamoiditis, and told me i will be ok in three months, it has been four months, and i am still in pain and swells up on the sesamoid bone area under the big toe with burning sensations and when i try to walk without my crutches and my boot, i get burning sensations all the way up to my inner thigh and then for the next few days i cannot stand at all, if i use my crutches and boot then i can walk a little bit more but then i would get constand pain and burning sensation from the bottom of my foot all the way to my knee to the inner thigh and if i walk too much, then i can't even stand up, what else can be wrong, please help, would i be able to walk again?  I am very scare over this.

Answer
Hi Amy,

Sorry for the dalay.

I would say that you need to have an MRI to get further information about the foot injury.  You may have other fractures involving the sesamoid or other foot bones.  You may also have a nerve damage in the foot.  I would see a podiatrist and have the MRI even if you've had one previously.  You may require physical therapy or you may require foot surgery.
