anterior inferior tibiofibular ligament INJURY?
9/21 15:04:11

Question
I was in our garage and had my hands full and a very heavy table top started to fall.  Brillant me thought, "I'll stick my foot out and stop it."  The table edge hit the front of my ankle - right where the foot and leg meet.

I had a pretty good scrape, bruising, and LOTS of tenderness.  Saw family doc who just commented that it was bruised and I had a "good scrap."

That was mid-November (the 16th, I believe).  I still have some tenderness to this area and slight discomfort to this area when flexing (pointing) my foot.

I'm wondering - is this the location of the anterior inferior tibiofibular ligament?  Could a "blow" like this cause any significant damage that I need to see a doctor again - or a specialist?

Answer
Hi

I would see a podiatrist and have an x-ray and possibly an mri if the pain is still present.  It is possible that there is bone and/or soft tissue injury and it may require treatment.

Good Luck.
