Swelling and discomfort on top of foot
9/21 15:03:46

Question
Six weeks ago I fell and the only discomfort I had from the fall was that the three smallest toes on my left foot were jarred and painful.  This discomfort has reduced slightly - but there is now a tenderness, redness and swelling on the top of the foot.  Since this swelling has occurred - the toes feel easier.  Can you tell me what this might be.

Answer
This Chicago & Elmhurst Podiatrist says.......

Dear Lyn,
You may have re-injured the area around your toes.Normal bruises start to heal at 3-4 weeks and can take up to 2-3 months if the area is being used(a foot for example). Sounds like it is healing.
As long as it appears to continue to heal, you should be OK. If the redness persists, then see a Board Certified Podiatrist.
Hope This Helps
Good Luck!
