Warming sensation on the top of my foot

Question
Good afternoon,

Last night I removed my sock and my right foot had a warming sensation on the top near my pinky toe. I put some ice on it to cool and elevated my foot. I went to sleep and when I woke up there is still this warming sensation.

There is no discoloration, my foot is not numb, there is no sharp pain or pain what so ever. I have not banged my foot (that I remember) I am not overweight the day before I finished my weekly 3 mile run (no injury, just a blister).
The only anomaly is I live in Florida and it has recently gotten very cold so I wore socks in the house all day which is something I don't do. I am not trying to be a hypochondriac but, my mind goes to blood clot, however I believe I am missing other symptoms.

Thanks

Answer
I don't believe a blood clot is what you're looking at.  It sounds to me that a nerve has become irritated.  It should self-correct in a couple of days, but certainly continue to use ice.  If it persists beyond that, then visit your podiatrist.

All the best,
Andrew Schneider, DPM
