slanted deformed pinky toe

Question
Hello,

My right pinky toe slants inwards, and I cannot move it without physically moving it with my hand. I took a foot scan, and neither of my pinky toes lay flat. I have gained movement, and muscle control with my left pinky toe, but my right one is diagonally slanted inwards. Also, another coincidence, I was in cross country, and then developed shin splints and knee pain in my left leg only. Could this effect balance mechanisms, because the weight isn't distributed evenly? Is this due to my deformed pinky toe or is it something else? My right leg doesn't have any problems. Would it be worth surgically reconstructing my pinky toe? I am 17 years old, and active.

Thank you

This Chicago, South Loop & Elmhurst Laser Podiatrist of AnklenfootCenters.com says.......

Dear Emma

For your curling pinky toes. If they curl under the toe next to them-then it may be a good reason to fix. Usually you have surgery to improve a condition that may be painful-however if they start to move into the next toes-time to see a Board Certified Podiatrist!
The curling toes have nothing to do with the shin splints-just coincidence!
Hope This Helps
Good Luck !!!
