Question
I broke my back in 1985 folowing a motorcylce accident and had harrington rods placed in my back. I would like to know if the herrington rods that were used during that time were made out of stainless steel or titanium?

Answer
Hey Scott-
Well, I don't have a great answer for you... I can however give you an educated guess?
I'm betting on steel. My surgery was done in 95 and they used steel- and most of the similar cases I'm familiar with have been steel.  I'd think you could contact the surgeon or perhaps the company and they could tell you for sure.

This said, I've had mri's and xrays of my neck since then, so I don't think the material will affect your choice there.  Again, ask a doc to make sure.

hope that's a little help, anyway?
good luck
leslie
