Question
47 year old male. in 1980 i was in car wreck which smashed my head down on my neck-i recieved 30+ stitches right on top of head just off center to left. have always felt different since.have continued working physicall work ever since.i have done alot of chiropractic, accupuncture, accupressure, and whatever i could do to help over the years. in 2004 i lost use of my left arm for 3 months. i got some movement back slowly, but lost alot of back shoulder muscle.also noticed around that time my eyesight diminishing, especially up close.also muscle spasms throughout arm neck and eyes.then started losing strength in right side.ihave had continuing numbness in arms hands and neck up the back of my neck andsides of my head.sometimes total numbness upon waking, especially after 6 hours or more at a time.i have had 2 mris 2emgs and other tests at the va in portland, oregon.im told my spinal cord is compressed, bulging discs in neck. nerve root to shoulders compressed.is the numbness on my head, twitching eyes ,blurred vision coming from my neck, or somewhere else, like the base of my skull.

Answer
hi jim- man, sounds like you're having a lot of fun... the on-going problems like that can suck out your will to live.

I'm not sure what your question is, specifically, unless it's about possible remedies for compressed cord, bulging discs?  In which case I'd say to try steroid injection at the site where the bulging is pushing on your cord- sometimes this will decrease swelling, hence the cord is no longer pressed on by the disc.  easy, routine procedure

if it doesn't work, though, you may be looking at 'discectomy' - where they surgically remove the offending disc so the compression is taken care of.  no fun, to be sure, but also fairly common these days.  and it sounds like your issues are getting worse, which would make the surgery that much more worthwhile.

let me know if this was not the info you were after- i wish you good luck, may you find a quick and pain-free solution!
