Question
I was in a car accident 11/10/2006 fracturing my c3 was misdiagnoised with severe whip lash. Have had a year of doctors, temp paralysis of left arm, now having perephial neuropathy. I have severe left neuroforaminal narrowing at c3/c4. Could this be causing visual problems and pain in head? Neurologist out ruling MS and Lyme disease. I believe this is all do to injury of spine I have not been right since accident.  I am now labeled medically disabled and am out of work but have no true answers???  Can you give me your thoughts? Thank you Connie

Answer
Hi Connie,
Thanks so much for your question.

Since I'm not a doctor, I can't give you a diagnosis but from what I know about the spine [which has been more than a 30-year experience], I would say most or all of your problems were caused by the injury.

Whether or not it was severe whiplash or a fracture, either one could cause the problems you described.

Always remember, the spinal cord is very complex and all spine injuries are unique. Even if 2 people have the same injury, how it affects the their bodies can/will be different.

If you don't like diagnosis and/or treatment your doctor prescribes, seek out a second opinion.

I hope this helps and if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask me anytime.

Thanks again,
John McKinzie
