Could spinal block have injured my back?
9/26 9:47:49

Question
I have a lot of tension in my upper shoulders, neck, and tons of headaches.  But in my lower back, hips, thighs, and down my legs, I have pain.  And my toes often have a pins and needles feeling to them.  I had an MRI last week and everything seems okay and nothing major stuck out to cause the pain.  I am iron deficient and will be getting an iron infusion in a couple of weeks.  My labs otherwise are good.

Here's my concern.  I have had 3 babies in the last 2.5 years and each was born by c/s.  With my last baby, 7 months ago, the doctor doing my spinal block couldn't get it and attempted about 15 times before being able to successfully get the needle in.  Tons of bleeding, needle sticks, and of course, brusing.

Since then, I have noticed my back from my shoulder blades to my hips goes numb every now and again.  Like a fuzzy/pins and needles sensation and it lasts on and of for a few days at a time.  Could the spinal have caused this?  Could it be the anemia?  I am being referred to a neurosurgeon, but want to make sure I am covering everything.  Also, I had gastric bypass surgery almost 5 years ago, so I am malabsorptive with vitamins/minerals, but b12, etc all looks okay.  Thank you!

Erica

Answer
Dear Erica,  I think seeing a neurosurgeon is a good move. They should be able to give you an answer to your question about whether there is a relationship between your problems and the spinal blocks. My opinion is that it may have something to do with your problems. But I am
not a doctor. I really hope you get the help you need. Sincerely, Ken
