Acetaminophen or Ibuprophen

Question
Hi,

I am to have an endoscopy next week and have been told to avoid aspirin until then (because it thins the blood).

I had root canal today and would like to  take an aspirin substitute.

However, I never can remember whether it's Acetaminophen or Ibuprophen that is ok as a substitute. (I assume that, whichever it is, is ok for the blood issue.)

Which is the ok substitute?

Many thanks,

Steve

Answer
Hi Steve and thanks for writing,

Generally Ibuprofen is recomended by doctors and dentists before/after surgery as it does not thin the blood the way Aspirin does.

Of course it's always a good idea to confirm with the doctor/dentist that it is safe for you as they are familiar with your individual health history.

I hope this answers your question,
Margot
