Question
I have a neck injury from a fall.I have a cushion gone, in my neck.I also have deteriating disk.I'm 41 years old.As of now I'm in extreme pain.I'm at the point now something has to be done. Will the surgery required for something like this be dangerous? Will it solve the problem? Some days my arm will not work at all.Do I have any more options?

Answer
I assume you have been to a doctor to get xrays and MRIs to officially diagnose this disc problem.  If the disc is gone and you are having that many problems with your arms, and the xray's and MRI's conclude that is what is causing the problems, there might not be any other choice than to have surgery.  Yes, any surgery can be dangerous, that is why you need to search for the best, ask your doctor you he suggests, interview that doctor, do some research on how many he has done, talk to others that have had it done and how they feel, etc.  This is not a procedure to take lightly.  I've talked to people that have had very successful surgeries and some that didn't work at all.  There are some other reasons for that.  I would also talk to a different doctor to see if they agree with your doctor's recommendation (second opinion).  I would suggest a good chiropractor in your area, they will tell you if they can help you or if, do to your complaints and reports, you should go ahead with the surgery.  They may also know of a good surgeon to do the work.  Any other specific questions please write back.  If you don't have a chiropractor and want to speak to one, go to www.sorsi.com to find one in your area, if you are in Minnesota, you can email me to set up an appointment.  Good Luck!!!
