Question
I am doing some research for a friend. She was hit by a forklift at work 2yrs ago. Was knocked unconscince. She is experiencing headaches everyday since accident along with severe pain down right side of body.neck to foot. Has gotten worse over the years.Pain shoots thru back just below right shoulder blade and is now starting to affect her left side. sometimes she experiences symtoms of a stroke but it is not a stroke. Drs have not been able to diagnose. She has had MRI's head and neck, not body scan. Do you have any ideas she may want to suggest to Doctors. Please help

Answer
Hello, Sherrie,

The first thing is that your friend must take responsibility for her own recovery.

That said, your description indicates that she has muscle spasms set in motion by the incident, something that is unlikely to be recognized by a radiologist reading an MRI.

Headaches indicate neck muscle spasms.

The easiest approach is to have some sessions with a clinical somatic educator.  (more information about the discipline at somatics.com)

There are also self-help programs (available through the website), but I recommend those more for people who can't get with a practitioner.

There are explanatory articles at somatics.com/page4.htm.

Your friend should do the reading and decide whether she wants to bring the option to the attention of her doctors.

with regard,
Lawrence Gold
