Question
I was told from a workers comp. dr. I had a acute lumbar sprain.I had 2 weeks of therapy.seemed to help.was told it would take 4 to 6 weeks to heal.im on my fith week and still sore better but not healed.at first it was very painful to stand or walk.i havent done much to agitate it while off work but when i do something like walking around for a while it tightens up still not as much pain.should i go aloong with my dr. and go back to work or get a second opinion?

Answer
I have experienced working with work comp drs and it is difficult go against what they say because the work comp insurance will stop paying.  More or less, what ever the work comp dr says goes.  My suggestion is to do what you need to do to get the work comp to pay for what it will pay for, and then seek some continued care, such as chiropractic.  Most conventional medicine will just give you muscle relaxors and pain relievers and hope that is will get better.  Most chiropractors will find what is going on and treat it accordingly, whether it be adjustments or therapies or exercises.  I am a member of an excellent group that does just that.  If you are interested, go to www.sorsi.com to locate a doctor near you.  I am in Minnesota in the Twin Cities and would be more than happy to see you.  If you have any other questions or concerns, please email me.
