neck popped during squats(315)

Question
Well my neck popped while doing squats at the weight of 315 when I was working out for football. It popped when I stood up with the bar I felt a pop(didnt hurt to much) so I finished the set but once I put the bar on the rack and the weight was off the neck it popped again which caused a lot of pain. The pain is all in the middle of my shoulder blades and in my neck and some shoulders muscles are really sore.My back and neck pop a lot now when just moving. Its been a week and it feels better then how it did before but it still hurts. The part that popped felt like the part of your spine that sticks out a lil bit more than the others at the bottom of the neck. When laying down I have no pain at all and can bench which is weird. The first day it happened I couldn't even hold my arms out straight which I can do now.

Answer
Sounds like it's getting better so I wouldn't be too concerned about the popping sound. As long as you're not getting any numbness, tingling, or burning sensations in the shoulders, arms, or hands, you probably didn't pinch a nerve in your neck. If you have point tenderness at the base of your neck where it sticks out, you may have what's called a Clay Shoveler's Fracture. The only way to be sure is to have an x-ray done, but even if it is, it usually gets better on its own. I would just hold off on doing squats for a while.
