Question
Hi, recently my back has being aching alot. I weight train regurlay and after recently taking up jogging again, i have found that about half way through my run my back feels uncorfortable. My back is slightly arched when stood up and was wondering if this could be the problem. Is there any exercises or stretches you could recommend?

sorry if this is quite vague.

kind regards,
Matt

Answer
I can not give you an exact answer without a proper exam, but it sounds like you have tight psoas muscles (hip flexors).  You have to do a little more than just stretch also, there is an exercise called PIR (post-isometric relaxation) that will benefit you immensely.  The only problem is I can not explain it to you in this format, I suggest talking with someone, chiropractor, exercise specialist, physical therapist, and have them demonstrate this exercise to you.  The reason being when these muscles are tight they pull the lower spine forward causing the muscles in the back to become shortened and tire more easily.  Good luck and if you have any other questions or concerns please email me.
