Tightness and clicking

Question
Hi Doctor Durnin, I have had a problem with my left lower back for about 6 months now. I get a discomfort, which I believe is from tightness of the muscles on the left side of the back.

The only way I can relieve this annoying feeling for a few moments is to pull my upper body over to the right to try and stretch the muscles. I often find that even the slightest bend to the right will cause a clicking sound from the centre of the back.

It seems to me like the tightness is causing something in or around the centre of the back to tightent up, which causes the click when I bend to the right. This goes away after the click then often comes back after a few minutes as the tightness does the same thing.

I sit in an office chair quite a lot. I have resorted to sleeping on a mattress on the floor, and I lift weights, which I stopped doing for about 3 months, with no real improvement.

Do you have any idea what the problem here could be and whether exercise alone or other therapy should be used to treat it?

Best Regards

Mike

Answer
Hi Mike,

It sounds like you're a perfect candidate for Chiropractic care. I wouldn't hesitate to see one, your, "tightness", may be caused from muscle imbalance, subluxation or a pinched nerve, all of which can be easily corrected in a few visits by a D.C.

Try one for a week or two and see the improvement.

Sincerely,
Dr. Timothy Durnin
