Back cramp with hand numbness

Question
Dr. Starbuck,
Recently, my wife has had three episodes of a problem that has leaves us in question on what to do.  At night, when she is relaxed, my wife would develop, what feels like gas cramps. But then it would immediately develop into a severe back cramp. At the same time her face would get very red, and would feel like it was asleep, but blood was rushing back. As the face redness continued, and the back cramp subsided, her hands would begin to tingle like she had sat on them for hours, then quickly freed them, getting that numbing, blood rushing sensation.
The only thing that we both could even think of, is when I "popped" her back. I did this by facing her, then, in a Heimlich fist position, slowly squeezed in an upward motion from the bottom to the top of her back.
I feel as thought, I may have caused some very bad results to her spine, resulting in this.

Answer
All though I don't know exactly what is going on with your wife, I can say with much certainty the your "adjustment" is not the cause of her complaints.  I'm only guessing but there does sound to me like there is some muscle issues (the "gas" cramps) and that can cause some neurological issues that would be causing the tingling.  If she has not had this checked out in person by a medical doctor or a chiropractor, I would do so to get some actual answers.
