Question
My husband was involved in an automobile accident in Oct. 2006, he suffered from severe neck, back and chest trauma.  He has been seeing a Chiropractor for the past 6 months.  He has sharp shooting pain in shoulders, arm and legs along with numbness in legs and feet when he stands or sits for any length of time. We just had an MRI of his neck and lower back which showed a 5 centimeter synovial cyst at C 6-C 7 region. He had none of these symptoms before his accident, could the trauma he suffered have caused this?

Answer
Hi Louise,

Quite likely, proving it would be difficult since there is no research on synovial cyst formation following an accident. Chronic repetitive trauma is a known cause, the two may be tied in if you get the right doc to testify. I would ask your lawyer if he knows a specialist that he uses to address these matters. I personally believe it is too coincidental and should be perused in judgement.

Let me know what the Lawyer says and I'll research up on it on my end some more.
