Question
i am a 31 year old female who was healthy till may 2007.
i have developed slowly dizziness/lightheadedness and headaches-they started sloww(once a week) and now is everyday
they are making me lose time at work.it starts first thing in the morning and continues all day and its severe.
i have had an mri-no contrast that saw nothing.i was sent to a neurologist who did his usual bppv test and other in office test and said i have migraines take this and it will go away-well the headache did but not the dizziness.
so they sent me to an ent doctor whe did a hearing test-good and eng-which i could not finish cause when using air it made me so dizzy i thought i was going to pass out-now he has ordered an mri with contrast-
im just so upset i cry all day id ont want to get out of bed-i know dizziness can be many things but why does it take so long to figure out? my neruologist refused to run any other tests to check for neck problems even though i told him as soon as i start moving it happens-he said they wont find anything but i think he is wrong.what can i do im losing time at work and my boyfriend thinks im losing it.
i cant explain the distres i am having over this
i really think something is wrong with my neck and noone will look.
thankyou

Answer
While neck problems can cause pain and headaches, the dizziness is most likely related to a problem in your inner ear.  The system that controls your balance is inside your ear so anytime you move your head, you'll get dizzy.

I would ask the ENT doctor about a condition called Migraine Associated Vertigo (MAV) or a condition known as Vestibular Neuritis.

Thank you for your question, Nichole.  I hope that my answer gives you some direction for help.
