Question
The question I have for you was, could you please explain my results to me and what I should do about it. I am not a dr. and do not understand.

Answer
At L4/5 there is diffuse disc bulging and disc desiccation. There are moderate changes of facet joint arthrosis as well with capsular and ligamentum flavum hypertrophy. They result in bilateral moderate lateral recess stenosis, crowding but not directly compressing the L/5 nerve roots within the lateral recesses, greater on the left than the right. No focal disc extrusion or protrusion. The impression is changes of disc and joint disease at L4/5 results in moderate lateral recess narrowing bilaterally, crowding but not correctly within both lateral recesses.

Hi Richard,

Your MRI results show that you have a disc bulge and some arthritis in your low back. The nerves that go into your legs come from your back and when you have arthritis in the joints in your back, this can decrease the space that the nerves have to pass through. This can cause significant back pain and pain/tingling/numbness into the legs.

I would require more information on your current symptoms in order to make any recommendations on what you should do for therapy.

I hope this helps!

Dr. Liza
