Lumbar paraspinous/ leg muscle atrophy & weakness

Question
I was diagnosed with lumbar paraspinous 8 years ago on the right side from the neck to the base of the lower spine. My left leg has been losing strength and gives out quite frequently. The leg is also quite smaller than the right leg. I was injured by slipping on floor stripper on a stairwell landing, i struck my neck first and then struck the lower back last. I do not have insurance, nor am on disability. I am in so much pain all day. Need to know what to do. All my doctors from years ago said all they could do was pain management!!! Now I do not even have that with no insurance, please help me and tell me what to do...

Answer
Okay, I guess I need more more information.   What is a lumbar paraspinous?  I'm not clear on that.

If your let leg is going out my biggest fear is about the weakness and atrohpy of the leg.  If in fact eh leg is smaller it can be due to compression of the nerve root(s) in the back.

I would recommend that you find a DC in your area, someone who treats the entire spine, who is willing to work with you financially and physically.  Ideally, they will find the CAUSE, not treating the SYMPTOM, which is pain.

It sounds like you are ready to get back into life... I would recommend taking steps towards that.  Should you need a start on referrals for someone near you, please follow up with me.

Hope this answer helps.
