Question
I have been having issues with my neck and down to the middle of my back. I recently had a c5-c6 fusion (2008) since then I have experienced more ongoing issues which seem to have progressed pretty rapidly since my last mri.
The most current mri reads as follows:
loss of signal at about c5 to c7, seen anteriorly, probablly related to the presence of anterior effusion plate and screw fixation.

osseous strctures:there is a architectural deformity and loss of signal

Hello, Lori,

The loss of signal may result from the surgery -- or from muscular contractions that led to the problems, to begin with.

Disc fusions are needed when discs disintegrate, usually due to overcompression from tight spinal muscles pulling vertebrae too closely together for a long time.

Loss of signal occurs when nerves get compressed -- again, from the same cause.

I'm pointing you to more information, a write-up I have done.  It's related to your condition:
