Question
My husband went to see his general practitioner, hes had both his legs severely swollen now for 2 weeks and his Dr. told him it was arthritis.I have never heard of this before where your legs and ankles are so swollen you can barely walk from the pain.I'm concerned that it might be his heart or bblood clots or something. Have you ever heard of this ? Can it really be arthritis ?
Thank you so much for your time
Dawn

Answer
Dear Dawn,  Go with your gut feeling....  Arthritis will not cause the entire legs like tissue and skin to swell and feel hard etc....  Arthritis swelling is most common around the joint areas like knees, ankle joints, but if the entire leg is swollen, this could be a heart problem, a liver problem, a kidney problem etc....

He needs to maybe even go to the the ER at the hospital and let then do some blood work to check for blood clots, liver or kidney problems or he DEFINATELY needs to see another doctor...

thank you,   karen
