lower arm/hand pain- Fibromyalgia?

Question
I am a otherwise healthy 48 year old, slim built woman, and I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia with chronic systemic muscle pain,(throughout my back shoulders, neck, and hips) but now I am experiencing severe pain in my lower arms, wrists and hands between my thumb and forefinger.  I am having a very difficult time managing this pain, as it is not affected by my Fibro meds which are Effexor XR, (anti-depressent), Skelaxin,(muslcle relaxers), Tramadol, (pain killers), Lyrica, the new FDA Fibro med, and Ambien CR for sleep. Is it possible that it is unrelated to the Fibro, and if so, what are some of those possibilities? Thanks for your consideration,
Carrie

Answer
There is a common osteoarthritis in the base of the thumbs - my mom with fibromyalgia has it and says it's a completely different pain to manage.  But, you know the routine - see your doc and get a proper diagnosis.  Only then can you both discover a way to treat it that works for you.
