Knee X-ray

Question
Hi Karen,

My Grandma just had an X-ray on her right knee, and this is what it revealed:

" 1- Advanced degenerated osteoarthritic changes with articular osteophytosis, sharpening of the tibial spine and narrowed medial joint compartment "
" 2- No loose bodies seen "

Could you please tell me what these results mean?

She's currently taking Celebrex(celecoxib) capsules and using Alpha Kadol ointment.

(I live in a developing country, so I just want a second opinion)

Thank you for your time

Sincerely,

Nora

Answer
Dear Nora,   Simply put your grandmother is suffering from osteoarthritis of the knee and there are NO pieces of the cartiledge etc that have broken off or loose that would cause even more problems or pain...

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease of the JOINTS and it occurs with age when the cartiledge between the joints wears out....  Often, if it get too bad, doctors will do surgery to put in an artifical knee...

Thank you,   karen
